With elections to the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) approaching, officials from various departments expect the 2026-27 state budget to focus on development projects for Jaipur. Finance Minister Diya Kumari is likely to announce several new initiatives to improve transport, traffic flow, and water supply in the state capital.

Jaipur Metro Expansion
According to officials, the budget may include key announcements related to Jaipur Metro expansion, the proposed Metro Line 2, and other possible metro routes. Metro authorities are planning to lay the foundation stone for a new metro project in March 2026. In view of this, additional funds are expected to be allocated in the next financial year. Officials said that Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has already completed feasibility studies for three to four new metro alignments, and the government may announce funding to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for at least one of these routes.
Jaipur Metro Line 1D
The state government also plans to extend the proposed Line 1D, which runs from Mansarovar to the 200-Feet Bypass, further towards Ajmer Road and the newly built Heerapura bus stand. In addition, feasibility studies have been carried out for a few metro routes passing through or around the Walled City area.
Traffic Infrastructure to Get Attention
Apart from metro projects, traffic infrastructure is also expected to get major attention. Officials said the government may announce plans to build signal-free crossings at some of Jaipur's busiest junctions to reduce congestion. Proposals for two to three new elevated roads, as well as future road-over-bridges (RoBs) and road-under-bridges (RuBs), are also likely. Areas such as Jhalana Bypass near JLN Marg and parts of Sikar Road may be included in these plans.
Water Supply
Water supply is another key focus area. Officials said funds may be announced for laying a second pipeline from the Bisalpur water project to Jaipur. Since the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) is expected to be commissioned by 2028, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) wants to strengthen Jaipur's water supply in the meantime. The DPR for these works is already prepared, and officials said funding is needed to begin construction.
