The Kolkata Metro has announced that it will run fewer services on Dol Jatra, a festival celebrated in the city. This change is being made because many people are engaged in the celebrations, and metro operations will start a bit later than usual.

Kolkata Metro Trains on Dol Jatra
Normally, metro trains begin early in the morning, but on March 3, the day of Dol Jatra, services will start in the afternoon. On the Blue Line from Dakshineswar to Sahid Khudiram, only 60 trains will run instead of the usual 272. The first trains will depart from key stations, including Noapara, Sahid Khudiram, and Dakshineswar, at around 2:30 p.m. instead of early morning. Even though there are far fewer trains, the timing of the last evening service will stay the same as on a normal day.
Kolkata Metro Green Line
The Green Line will also be facing a reduction in services. Around 45 services will run between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, compared with over 200 trains on a regular day. The first train on this route will start later in the afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., instead of early in the morning.
Kolkata Metro Yellow Line
On the Yellow Line from Noapara to Jai Hind Bimanbandar, only 44 trains will operate. These trains will begin running in the afternoon, such as around 3:38 p.m., instead of the usual morning start.
Kolkata Metro Purple & Orange Line
The Purple and Orange Lines will also have fewer trains and will start later in the day. Moreover, metro services across the city will be reduced and delayed, so that people can enjoy the festival without morning metro travel.
