As Eden Gardens prepares to host India's important Super Eight match against the 2016 champions, the West Indies cricket team, Kolkata Metro has announced extra metro services for Sunday, March 1.
Additional Metro Services
Usually, the last metro train runs at 9.55 pm every day; however, to help cricket fans return home safely after the match, special late-night trains will operate on the Blue Line. On Sunday night, an additional train will run from Esplanade to Dakshineswar and from Esplanade to Sahid Khudiram at 11.15 pm. This arrangement will make it easier for spectators to travel comfortably after the game ends.
Esplanade Station to Offer Extended Services
According to a statement from Metro Railway, Kolkata, the booking counter at Esplanade station will remain open for these special services. The metro authorities said they are committed to providing safe, comfortable, and affordable travel for passengers, especially during major events like this high-profile cricket match.
Match at Eden Gardens
The game at Eden Gardens is very important for both teams. The West Indies had earlier won their second T20 World Cup title in 2016 at the same venue. Now, both India and the West Indies must win their final Super Eight match to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
The much-awaited match will begin at 7 pm on Sunday, March 1. With thousands of fans expected to attend, the additional metro services will help ensure smooth travel arrangements after the match concludes.
