To mark the week of International Women's Day, Nagpur MahaMetro deployed all-women teams to handle operations at two of the busiest Metro stations in the city, Sitabuldi Interchange Metro Station and Jhansi Rani Chowk Metro Station.

Women Employees' Contribution
At these stations, every important responsibility was managed by women employees. This included station controllers, ticket counter staff, security personnel, and sanitation workers. The initiative was introduced to celebrate the contribution of women in public services and leadership roles. Officials said it also reflects the organisation's commitment to gender equality and inclusive workplaces.
How did Women Members Handle Operations?
According to Metro authorities, women staff members handled operations smoothly and showed high levels of discipline and professionalism. They also provided strong passenger support and ensured efficient service throughout the day. Officials added that the initiative sends a message about equal opportunities for women in important frontline roles in public infrastructure services.
MahaMetro's Security Measures
Along with this effort, MahaMetro also highlighted several steps taken to make Metro travel safer and more comfortable for women passengers. Metro stations and trains are equipped with CCTV cameras to ensure better security. Trained security personnel are present at stations, and reserved seats are available for women inside trains.
How are Stations Maintained?
Stations are also maintained with clean drinking water facilities and well-kept toilets for passengers. In addition, commuters can report issues or concerns through dedicated helplines and customer service centres that handle passenger complaints and provide assistance.
How do Women Employees Help in Boosting Security?
Officials said that the presence of women employees in operational and security roles increases passenger confidence, especially for women commuters. Seeing women staff members actively managing stations makes passengers feel safer and more comfortable while travelling.
Through this initiative, MahaMetro once again emphasised its focus on safety, reliable services, and inclusive growth in the city's public transport system. The organisation hopes such steps will encourage more women to join the workforce and take leadership roles in the transport sector.
