Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several important expansion projects of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on March 8. The projects will be launched in the presence of Rekha Gupta, the Chief Minister of Delhi. One of the significant highlights of the event will be the completion of India's first

fully operational Ring Metro system in the entire NCR.
Exceeding Budget
As these projects are part of the ongoing expansion of the Delhi Metro network, the total investment for these developments is estimated to exceed Rs 18,300 crore. However, the aim is to strengthen public transport, improve connectivity across the city, and make daily travel easier for millions of people.
Development of Delhi Metro Pink Line
A major development is the inauguration of the 12.3 km-long Majlis Park-Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line. With this addition, the Pink Line will expand to about 71.56 km, making it India's first fully operational Ring Metro. The circular line will connect many important parts of Delhi and help passengers travel across the city more conveniently.
Elevated Corridor to Include Stations
The elevated corridor includes stations such as Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, and Maujpur-Babarpur. The project also includes a new bridge over the Yamuna River and a double-decker structure that carries both a metro line and a road flyover.
Inauguration of Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park
The prime minister will also inaugurate the Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park extension of the Magenta Line. This 9.92 km elevated corridor will add seven new stations, bringing the total length of the line to nearly 49 km. Some parts of this route rise to 28.36 metres, making them among the highest-elevated metro tracks in Delhi.
Inauguration of New Metro Corridors
During the event, Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone for three new metro corridors under the Phase V (A) expansion plan. These include the Central Vista corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, and two extensions of the Golden Line: one connecting Aerocity to Airport Terminal 1 and the other connecting Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.
Officials say these projects will improve connectivity in Delhi and nearby areas while also helping reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the city.
