Arunai Temple, Kurukshetra

2

The temple, an important tirtha, is situated about 6 km from Pehowa, on Ambala Road. The tirtha is associated with sages Vishwamitra and Vashishta, both belonging to the times of Mahabharata. Another reason why the tirtha is so important is the fact that it is the meeting point of the rivers Saraswati and Aruna.

While Mahabharata and Vamana Purana mention its importance, the tirtha is today famous for being a Shivaite centre called Sangameshwar Mahadev Temple. The temple adjoins a small tank and attracts thousands of pilgrims each year.
