Rozabal Shrine, located in the Khanyar District of Srinagar, is a controversial religious site as it is claimed by the Christian as well as the Muslim community. According to the Muslims, this shrine is a tomb of a Muslim saint, Yuz Asaf, while the Christians believe that the body of Jesus Christ is buried here.
This shrine is also popularly known as the Ziarati Hazrati Youza Asouph. Some claim that Jesus Christ, the prophet of Christianity, survived the wounds of the crucifixion and came to this site where his body was later buried according to Jewish customs and traditions.
However, locals believe that the site is the burial place of Mir Sayyid Naseeruddin, a local Muslim saint who was buried as per the Islamic customs and traditions. A Board of Directors comprising Sunni Muslims is presently looking after the Roza Bal Shrine.
