Buddhist Monuments, Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra traces its roots to the times of Mahabharata and before; it is an important pilgrimage place for the Hindus. However, in later years it attracted scholars, gurus and sages from different religions, faith and philosophies.

Lord Buddha is also believed to have visited here and many Buddhist monuments mark this occasion. Some of these monuments also came up in later years. It is little wonder then that Kurukshetra is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists too.
