The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has announced special reserved train services between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to handle the expected increase in passengers during the New Year season. These special trains have been introduced keeping in mind the heavy rush of pilgrims and tourists travelling

to Jammu and Kashmir during the holiday period. Each of these special trains will have 16 coaches and will run from now until January 1, 2026.
Special Trains to Jammu & Kashmir
Special train number 04081 will operate from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This train will make five trips between today and December 31. It will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 pm and reach Katra at 12 noon the next day, making it convenient for overnight travel.
The return journey will be handled by special train number 04082, which will run from Katra to New Delhi. This train will also make five trips, operating between December 28 and January 1. It will leave Katra at 9:20 pm and arrive in New Delhi at 10 am the following morning.
How Will These Services Benefit Passengers?
According to Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Jammu Division, these special train services have been started to meet the rising travel demand during the festive season. He said the trains will help manage large crowds and make travel easier for both tourists and residents. The initiative will also allow passengers to travel comfortably and celebrate the New Year with their families.
Passengers can book tickets for these special trains through the official Indian Railways website, the mobile app, or authorised ticket booking agents. Travellers are advised to check train timings before starting their journey, as schedules may change due to operational needs.
