In a special announcement for Holi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has said that metro train services will begin later than usual on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. As shared on its official X account, metro services will start from 2:30 pm from all terminal stations on every line across the city.

Delhi Metro's Timings for Holi
DMRC explained that this change has been made because of the Holi festival. The delayed start will allow both passengers and metro staff to celebrate the festival safely and peacefully in the morning. After beginning at 2:30 pm, metro trains will run according to the normal schedule for the rest of the day. Passengers have been advised to plan their travel and check for the latest updates before leaving for the metro stations. This temporary change will help maintain smooth operations while also respecting the importance of the festival.
Holi Celebration in Delhi
Holi is celebrated with great joy and excitement in Delhi and across India. On this day, many people take leave from schools, offices, and workplaces to enjoy the celebrations with family and friends. The festival usually begins in the morning, which is why metro services have been rescheduled.
Holi, also known as Rangawali Holi or Dhulandi, falls in the Hindu month of Phalgun. According to Drik Panchang, Holi in 2026 will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4. People celebrate by applying colours to one another, dancing to popular Bollywood songs, and spending time with loved ones. Traditional sweets and snacks like gujiya, mathri, and malpuas are prepared and shared. Many also enjoy drinks like thandai and bhang. The festival marks the arrival of spring and spreads a message of happiness and togetherness.
