Mayamma Ashram, Salem

Mayamma Ashram is an ashram which contains the Jeeva Samadhi of Devi Mayamma. Devi Mayamma was a female avadhuta who had come from Kanyakumari and settled in the area. She lived on the borders of the beautiful hill station called Yercaud till she renounced her earthly form in the year 1992 at the place where the ashram is today located.

Every year on the day of her death on 9th February, the Samadhi Day is celebrated when thousands of devotees throng to the place. The Shrine is maintained by her devotee Sri Rajendran. The atmosphere of the place is serene where one can meditate and pray and receive the divine blessings of the Devi.

The place is recommended for tourists and pilgrims who are interested in taking a break from the humdrum of city life.
