Durga Puja, one of the most vibrant and cherished festivals, holds a special place in the hearts of many. Utsav 2024 promised to be a celebration like no other, blending tradition, culture, and community spirit. This year, once again, the celebration was not just about worship but about fostering unity and spreading joy throughout the community.
Here goes the glimpse of the celebration at Durga Puja Pandal at Vijaya Bank Layout Bangalore.
Celebrating Inclusivity and Spreading Joy

On July 17th, Utsav members visited Asha Jeevan, sharing an afternoon with the senior residents and offering essentials, fruits, and sweets. Their love and blessings became the guiding light for the upcoming festivities, as Utsav aimed to celebrate not just the festival but also the spirit of inclusivity.

Ushering in Devipaksha
Devipaksha began with the traditional Prabhat Pheri, a morning procession inviting the community to join the celebrations. The event symbolized the triumph of good over evil, the victory of light over darkness, and the hope for peace, justice, and divinity to prevail.

Panchami: Kicking Off the Festivities
The excitement reached its peak on Panchami, with an Ananda Mela and an in-house Dandiya night. The joyous evening brought together Utsav members, neighbors, and guests, setting a festive tone with music, dance, and mouth-watering food, setting the stage for the days ahead.

Shasti: Embracing Devotion and Culture
Durga Puja commenced on Shasti with the offering of prayers to the Goddess, followed by a community Bhog. The evening saw the inspiring Ms. Shukla Bose inaugurating Utsav's magazine, Bodhon. Cultural performances, including traditional "boron" and a mesmerizing dance program by Shubham, enthralled the audience, evoking memories of Kolkata's festive spirit.

Saptami: A Day of Rituals and Art
Saptami started early with the sacred kolabou snan and rituals, followed by Pushpanjali and the community Bhog. Performances by the children of Grameen and a creative art competition filled the day with joy. The evening was marked by an enchanting Arati and a captivating performance of "Aboltabol" by the Hoichoi team.

Ashtami: A Day of Devotion
The auspicious Ashtami began with morning prayers and Anjali, culminating in the magical Sandhi Puja, where devotees lit lamps, creating a spiritual aura. The day's events continued with Nabami Puja and a delightful Bhog, uniting the community. A soulful musical performance by Smt. Subhasmita Banerjee ended the day on a melodious note.

Nabami: The Power of Tradition
Nabami's Chandi Homam aimed to bring prosperity and wisdom, followed by a bustling community Bhog. The evening featured vibrant cultural programs, with performances by Bandishe, an in-house band with members who traveled far to be part of the Puja. The comedy drama "Bhusundi r Maath" added a touch of laughter.

Dashami: The Grand Finale
The final day, Dashami, saw mixed emotions as devotees bid farewell to Goddess Durga with the Dashami Darpan Visarjan, symbolizing her divine presence within their hearts. The Aparajita Puja celebrated the goddess's victorious spirit, marking the conclusion of the festival.

Bijoya Sommeloni: Ending with a Bang
Utsav concluded with Bijoya Sommeloni, an evening of greetings, blessings, and a grand dinner featuring folk and Bollywood music. The celebration embodied the spirit of Durga Puja, promising the return of the goddess and the festive spirit in the coming year.
