Doodh Baori, Mount Abu

Doodh Baori, situated at the footsteps of the Adhar Devi Temple, is a sacred well and is one of the important religious sites in Mount Abu. The name 'Doodh Baori' comes from the fact that the water in the well has a distinct milk-like colour. There are a number of legends associated with the colour of water in this well.

According to one such legend, the well is the main source of milk for Gods and Goddesses. The well water is considered sacred by many local inhabitants. It is their belief that the well water possesses some magical powers. Many devotees consider the well symbolises Kamdhenu, a cow goddess.
