The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) is close to completing the last two elevated stations on its priority metro corridor: Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak. Both stations are now in the final stage of work, and metro services on this extended stretch are expected to begin by the end of this

month, which marks an important milestone for Patna's growing metro system, which has been partially operational since October last year.
Patna Metro's Elevated Section of Blue Line
Currently, metro trains run on a 3.6-km elevated section of the Blue Line, also called the priority corridor. This stretch connects Patliputra ISBT (New ISBT) with Zero Mile and Bhootnath. Every day, around 6,000 to 10,000 passengers use this metro service for their daily travel.
New Extension from Bhootnath
The new extension starts from Bhootnath to Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak, adding about 2.7 km to the existing route. Once both new stations become fully operational, the total length of the priority corridor will increase to around 6.5 km. The track work on this section has already been completed, allowing trains to run through the entire stretch. However, some technical work and station-level preparations are still ongoing, especially at Khemnichak. These delays occurred earlier because of land-related issues and construction scheduling problems.
Finishing Work is in Progress
According to a PMRC official, finishing work is progressing quickly at both stations. At Malahi Pakri station, a key step was completed recently when the transformer in the Auxiliary Substation (ASS) room was successfully charged. The ASS room is responsible for supplying electricity to the station. The transformer plays an important role by reducing high-voltage power to a safe level needed to operate station facilities such as lighting, fans, escalators, and other electrical systems.
With these final works nearing completion, the Patna Metro is preparing to offer a longer and more convenient travel option for city residents in the coming weeks.
