Sonepur Fair, Hajipur

Sonepur is located 6 km from Hajipur. On a full moon day of October-November, a festival called Kartik Diwas is celebrated. It is a fortnight-long cattle fair which takes place annually. The Sonepur Fair is hugely famed and one of the largest cattle fairs in Asia.

The festival is not limited to cattle and includes vibrant events like folk plays, folk dances, music, street plays and a circus to enthrall the visitors. A plethora of indigenous goods such as garments and wooden furniture are kept on display, which can also be purchased. The state tourism department manages the fair and accommodation facilities are available during this time.
