Chandlai is a village situated at a distance of 10 km from Tonk city on the Tonk-Kota road. It was founded by Chandla, who was the ruler of Tonk at that time. He also constructed a pucca pond near the village and named it Bhala after the name of his daughter. His inscription on the pond wall reads baisakh sudi 15 samvat 1027 (970 AD).
