The Mariamman temple is a famous Hindu temple situated near Nagore in Tamil Nadu. The main deity in this temple is made of sand and clay and is known as the mariamman. There is a small stone in front of the deity and the sacred washing is performed to that stone instead of the deity. Sundays, Fridays and the Tuesdays are the main days when thousands of pilgrims come to the temple premises. Thai Poosam is the main festival that is conducted in the Tamil Month of Thai in the temple premises.
The temple is used as an example by the State Government in order to describe the rural folklore. The main hall of the temple has a series of other shrines that are standing free. The temple is open every day including the holidays and Prasad is given by the authorities to the common people.
