Arumugaswamy Temple, Nagapattinam

The Arumugaswamy Temple is located in Porulvaithacheri village which is at a distance of 6 km from Nagapattinam. The temple has been constructed in the name of Lord Subramanium Swamy whose idol is seen standing near a peacock.

The legends say that the king was impressed with the work of the sculptor and he presented the sculptor with a lot of wealth. However, he also cut off the sculptor’s thumb so that he would never be able to produce an art like that.
