Meenmutty Falls, Kalpetta

3

The Meenmutty Falls is one of the most gorgeous falls in Wayanad district and the second largest in Kerala. The name of the fall means “where fish are blocked”, in Malayalam, where fish can’t swim further due to some natural reason. This fall is a 300-m-high fall and cascades in three different tiers that makes Meenmutty Falls the most impressive one.

Meenmutty Falls is 29 km from Kalpetta and can be reached after a two-km hike through the forest from the road going to Ooty. The beauty of the fall makes the two-km hike worthwhile. However, it is important to seek help from a guide to reach the falls. On the way to the falls you can see caves which have Neolithic age carvings. There are professionals out there to explain to you the details about the carvings.
