    Chembra Peak is the loftiest peak not only in Kalpetta but also in the whole of Wayanad district. It stands at an overwhelming height of 2100 m above sea level. This peak is a favourite place for trekkers. You will find temporary camps that are set up on top of the peak so that these adventure lovers can stay there comfortably and enjoy panoramic views of the place.

    There is a mountain lake up there. The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) provides log huts, canvases, sleeping bags and all the trekking equipment that you will need for trekking. They will even arrange a guide for you.

    It has to be noted that you have to take permission for trekking at Chembra Peak from the Forest Range Officer at Meppadi.

    Karapuzha Dam is one of the biggest earth dams in India. It is situated 16 km away from the sleepy town of Kalpetta. It is constructed on the Karapuzha Lake.     Kanthanpara Waterfalls is a delicacy to the beholder's eyes. It is situated 12 km south-east of Kalpetta. This is another grand and picturesque waterfall at about 30 m height. The beauty of the waterfalls is further intensified by the beautiful tea gardens on both sides. The refreshing aroma of tea leaves lingers in the air near the waterfalls.   • 04Soochippara Waterfalls

    Soochippara Waterfalls of Kalpetta, popularly called the Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, fall from a height of 100 to 300 ft. It is situated near Meppadi, 22 km from Kalpetta. In Malayalam, ‘soochi’ means needle and ‘para’ denotes rock; thus, the name Soochippara is coined for this waterfall.

    This fall too has three stretches which fall into Meenmutty, Kanthanpara and Soochippara. Finally, these stretches merge and reach the Chaliyar river. The place where the three stretches combine forms a pool. This pool provides opportunities for water sports like rafting, swimming and bathing.

    You can also experience staying on tree top huts that give panoramic views of the waterfall and the Western Ghats. You have to go through the lush green tea gardens and then pass through the equatorial forest for 2 km to reach the Soochippara Waterfalls. The Sentinal Rock Waterfalls in Kalpetta is an ideal place for photography.

    Puliyarmala Jain Temple

    The Puliyarmala Jain Temple is well known for its excellent architecture and crafted pillars. It is devoted to Ananthanatha Swami, a very important saint for the Jains. This Jain temple is located 6 km away from Kalpetta and is a famous pilgrim centre for the Jains. This temple is a delight for art lovers.

    The entrance doors are meticulously engraved, and they hold three panels. There is granite pillar at the outer entrance. The temple also has the Stupa. The Stupa is modeled on the traditional Dravidian style. It has very colourful and detailed carvings in a pyramid shape.

    The model of the Jain God Mahaveer is etched on the top of the Stupa. The main shrine consists of small steps which have 20 different Jain idols carefully chiselled on them. The Puliyarmala Jain Temple is an excellent example of uncommon Jain architecture.
