The 23-km Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Corridor in Pune is close to completion. Officials say that around 94% of the construction work has already been finished, and system trials have started along the entire route. Senior officials of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority said they are working to meet the

planned deadline to start passenger services. However, metro operations can begin only after the project's concessionaire issues the final approval letter. Authorities are still waiting for this clearance before opening the line to the public.
Elevated Metro Corridor
PMRDA built the elevated metro corridor in partnership with Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. As the line becomes operational, it will provide an important connection between the city centre and the major IT hub at Hinjewadi. The corridor will also connect with the existing Pune Metro network at Shivajinagar, making travel easier for daily commuters.
Completion of Construction Work
Reports suggest that most of the construction work, including civil and structural work, has already been completed. Out of the 23 stations planned along the route, about 15 to 17 stations are almost ready. Earlier, Murlidhar Mohol reviewed the progress of the metro project. During his visit, he said that around 13 stations could be ready by April. If the required approvals are granted, metro services might begin on these completed stations first as a partial operation.
Preparation of Detailed Project
Officials explained that passenger services can start only after the concessionaire provides the official approval letter. This document will also clarify whether trains can run on the completed stations. Meanwhile, Mohol has asked authorities to prepare a detailed project report for a proposed metro corridor between Khadakwasla and Hinjewadi, which could further expand the city's metro network.
