Bengaluru's Namma Metro has announced that it will start services earlier than usual on Sunday to help people attending the TCS World 10K Bengaluru event. Usually, metro trains on Sundays begin operations at 7 am; however, services will start much earlier to support runners, volunteers, and spectators reaching the event

venue on time.
Bengaluru's New Metro Timings for Sunday
According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the early start is planned to manage the large crowd expected for the international 10-kilometre road race. This special arrangement is made to ensure smooth and convenient travel, especially for those heading towards central Bengaluru, where the race will take place. During the first hour of operations, trains will run more frequently to handle the early morning rush. After that, the frequency will be slightly reduced until regular services begin later in the morning. After the start of normal hours, the metro will continue operating as per its usual Sunday timetable.
Why is the Step Taken?
The TCS World 10K Bengaluru is a major international running event that attracts thousands of participants from across India and abroad. Because of this, large crowds are expected on roads around the starting point, and public transport plays an important role in reducing traffic congestion. Officials said this step is part of the metro's routine practice of adjusting services during major city events. In the past, too, metro timings have been changed for sports events, exams, elections, and festivals to make public transport more accessible.
By starting services early, Namma Metro aims to provide a reliable and stress-free travel option for commuters. It will also help reduce the use of private vehicles on race day, easing traffic pressure in key parts of the city.
