The Patna Metro depot being built near the New Patliputra Inter-state Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Bairiya Chak in Sampatchak is close to completion. Spread across 32.77 hectares, this depot will not only serve as a parking area for trains but also act as the main control centre for the entire

metro network. Often referred to as the brain of Patna Metro, it will allow controllers to monitor train movements across the city. Using large screens and advanced sensors, officials will be able to track each train's location and speed in real time. In case of any emergency, instructions can be sent immediately from this centre to ensure passenger safety.
Patna Metro Operations Across Three Stations
Officials from Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC) say the facility is designed to make metro travel fast, smooth, and safe. At present, the Patna Metro operates across three stations: Patliputra Bus Terminal, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath.

The depot includes eight stabling lines where trains will be parked overnight and prepared for daily operations. To maintain cleanliness, an automatic coach-washing system has been installed. Trains passing through this system will be cleaned quickly using sensors, brushes, and water jets. There is also a separate system for deep cleaning when required.
Moreover, the depot has a modern workshop and inspection platforms where trains will be checked for technical issues. Trains will only be allowed to run after proper inspection. A 739-metre test track has also been built to check train performance and safety before they begin passenger service.
The depot is equipped with advanced machines, strong power backup, and eco-friendly systems for water and drainage. Engineers are working continuously to complete the project, which will soon support metro operations across the city.
