Pichavaram Mangrove Forest, Cuddalore

The Pichavaram Mangrove Forest is one of the biggest tourist attractions of the place. The forest is the second largest mangrove forest in the world and also one of the healthiest. It is located at a distance of about 14 km from Chidambaram. There are numerous islands interspersed in the water which is home to hundreds of species of birds, both local as well as migratory.

Some of them are watersnips, herons, pelicans, cormorants and egrets among many others. These forests attract bird watchers from all over the world especially between the months of September to April and November to January. There are also boating facilities available in this forest which has added to the attractiveness of the place.
