Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib, Amritsar

Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib stands on the south-eastern corner of the walled city of Amritsar. Just like any other gurdwara, this Sikh shrine is erected alongside a holy tank called Ramsar Sarovar. The smallest of the five holy tanks of Amritsar, Ramsar Sarovar, was dug at this site by the 5th Sikh guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, during his search for a blissful location.

Named after his father Guru Ram Das Ji, this gurdwara is the spot where the sacred Guru Granth Sahib, containing the relics of all the Sikh gurus, was first dictated to the entourage. After its completion, this holy book of Sikhs was installed at the Harmandir Sahib. A marble-lined hall topped by a lotus dome, this gurdwara is recommended for tourists.
