Gurdwara Mata Kaulan, Amritsar

Gurdwara Mata Kaulan is a sacred shrine located on the back side of the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar. This gurdwara was built in the memory of Bibi Kaulan, the daughter of Qazi of Lahore, who worshipped Guru Hargobind Ji. After her father pronounced her death, Saint Mian Mir Ji rescued her and brought her to Amritsar in refuge of her guru where she devoted the rest of her life to mankind.

Just like any other gurdwara, Gurdwara Mata Kaulan is built on the bank of a holy tank called Kaulsar Sarovar. The 6th Sikh guru, Guru Hargobind Ji, had directed the devotees to take a dip in Kaulsar Sarovar before going to the Golden Temple. To the western end of this holy tank lies the Samadhi of Mata Kaulan Ji. A revered place among Sikh devotees, Gurdwara Mata Kaulan is a must-visit place in Amritsar.
