Lothal is a site where the remains of the Harappan civilization can be found. The word Lothal means “Mound of the Dead” and it allows us a great insight into the architectural plan and precision with which the city was built.
Today only in a state of ruins, Lothal throws light on the ancient society and structure, an economy that was dependent on the port that existed here a few thousands of years ago. Also, the art and crafts work found here helps to understand the culture of this land. Lothal being affected by several floods couldn't withstand the fourth flood and immersed into obscurity.
