Pir Matsyendranath is named after the great Shaivite leader Matsyendranath of the Natha sect. The leader is called Pir by his followers, and the place is highly respected by both the Hindus and Muslims. The place is situated on the banks of the river Shipra. The place is located near the Bhartrihari Caves and the Gadkalika temple.
One can reach the place with ease as it is situated at a distance of 1 km from the main city of Ujjain. Antiquities were found at this famous site during excavations, and these antiquities date back to the 6th and 7th century B.C.
