Tharamangalam Temple is located at a distance of 27 km from the city of Salem. Tharamangalam is a town famous for the Kailasanathar Temple. The temple is famous for its splendid architecture and stone carvings.

The stone carving of the Yali with a stone ball in the mouth is one of the most exquisite in the temple. There are also carvings of Manmatham looking at Siva and Parvati and scenes from the Ramayana. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and parts of the temple have existed since the 10th century.

The temple was built in the 17th century by Gatti Mudhali dynasty. The temple also has a huge hall and tank which have been appreciated for their sculptural beauty. There are also several huge monolithic pillars outside the temple. It is said that more such pillars are underground.
