Tagore Hill, Ranchi

Just 4 km north of the city, the Tagore Hill stands like a sentinel on a hilltop. Charmed by the appeal of the place Rabindra Nath Tagore had bought the Morahbadi Hill and the adjoining areas and built a house atop it. Tagore Hill is about 300 ft high.

As the hill is associated with a history pertaining to the Tagore family, it is known as Tagore Hill. A number of books are believed to have been written by Rabindra Nath Tagore on the top of the hill. It is assumed that the poet liked this hill due to its serene beauty and the extraordinary calmness and thus this was a place where he found expression for his literary work.

A centre of Divyayan and Agararian Vocational Institute and the famous Ramakrishna Mission Ashram are located at the foot of the Tagore Hill. This is a good place for hill climbing and spending some time at the top of the hill in seclusion.
