Samaspur Bird Sanctuary, Raebareli

2

The Samaspur Bird Sanctuary is located near Salon in Rae Bereli. Set up in the year 1987, it is spread across 780 hectares of land. The sanctuary is a haven of peace and provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Rae Bareli. With more than 250 species of birds, both resident and migrant, the sanctuary is a major birding destination in Uttar Pradesh.

Some of the birds that have made the sanctuary their home include the vulture, kingfisher, spot bill, common teel, vision and whistling teel. The sanctuary also has a lake with several kinds of fish. Both locals and tourists flock here to enjoy the birds, picnic or simply soak up the peace of the environs.

The best time to see the birds is from November to March. This is the time that birds from the high altitudes and other migratory birds fly here for a visit.
