Thiruvaavinankudi Temple, Palani

Thiruvaavinankudi Temple is also known by the name of Kulanthai Velayuthaswamy Temple. The temple is one of the oldest in the region and is believed to be the abode of Lord Murugan. The shrine, located at the foot of the hill Tiru Avinankudi, is one of the three Padai-Vîdu mentioned in songs and legend.

There is a sacred theertham adjacent to the shrine and the idol of Lord Murugan here is seen as a child sitting atop a peacock. The huge amla tree, a sanctum of Arunagirinthar and Nagalinga inside the temple are worth your visit. This temple has witnessed several renovations over the years including those by K.P.S Palaniappa Chettia of Kandanur and N.M Subramaniam Chettiar of Karaikudi.
