Sukhna Lake is a picturesque spot located at the foothills of the Shivalik range in the town of Chandigarh. Stretching to a length of 3 km, this manmade lake was created in the year 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe Stream that flows down from the Shivalik Hills.

The splendour of nature attracts hikers, photographers and painters towards the scenic beauty of this lake. A former venue for the Asian Rowing Championships, Sukhna Lake is renowned to have the longest channel for rowing and yachting on the continent.

The spot is also favourable for other water sport activities like skiing, surfing and sculling. During winters, exotic migratory birds settle around the lake making it a delight for birdwatchers. The serene atmosphere at Sukhna Lake makes it a recommended destination for picnic, boating and even meditation.
