  • 02Nagara Fort

    Nagara Fort

    Travellers are recommended to visit Nagara Fort, popularly known as Bidanur Fort, on their trip to Kodachadri if time allows. This fort is located at a distance of about 25 km from the mountains of Kodachadri. Belonging to Keladi Dynasty, this fort was erected during the 18th century; some parts of the site are now in ruined state while the rest have been rebuilt using red bricks.

    The backwaters of the Linganamakki Dam, build on Sharavathi River, and dense forest area result in the beautiful landscape that surrounds this fort. Tourists can only see small foundations of a 'Durbar Hall' of Shivappa Nayaka at this structure.

    A dry well and tiny caves that were used for safe exit of royal families at the time of assault are present here. As the fort is placed on a raised platform, a beautiful view of surroundings can be seen along with the striking Western Ghats.
