Jalpai in Hindi means Olive, which were found all over Jalpaiguri in the early 1900s.  Jalpaiguri district shares international borders with Bhutan in the North and Bangladesh in the East. The Darjeeling hills are  proximate to Jalpaiguri and make for an ideal day trip from here. Apart from this, Jalpaiguri Tourism also attracts onward tourists from Siliguri and other Northern towns of West Bengal.
