Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad

The Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad is situated close to the Mir Alam Tank and is a very popular tourist attraction of the city. In fact, the zoo is rated as one of the three most popular attractions in Hyderabad. The park was commissioned in 1959 and was opened for public in 1963. The zoo has a variety of species of animals, reptiles and birds.

The zoo also has breeds of inbred animals like tiger, panther, Asiatic lion, python, orangutan, crocodile, gaur, antelopes, deer and the Indian rhino. Care has been taken to provide the birds and animals with the exact replicas of their natural habitat. A trip to the zoo is indeed pleasurable as well as educative. Tourists with children are known to visit the park regularly. The zoo organises safaris and elephant rides regularly. There is also a natural history museum located within the premises of the zoo.
