Mata Chakreshwari Devi Jain Temple, Fatehgarh Sahib

Mata Chakreshwari Devi Jain Temple is located on the Sirhind-Chandigarh road, in a village called Attewali. The legend of Mata Chakreshwari Devi dates back to the era of Raja Prithvi Raj Chauhan. It is a popular belief that some pilgrims were travelling to the Jain temple in bullock carts and on the way, they bought a Mata Chakreshwari Devi idol, who was an ardent follower of Lord Adinath.

After halting for the night, when the pilgrims tried to move the cart in which the idol of Mata was kept, it did not move. Suddenly a voice from the sky announced “Let this be my place of Abode”. Strangely, in the middle of the barren land, a water fountain emerged. Every year on the fourth day after Dusshera, a religious function is held here, which is attended by numerous devotees.
