Mattupetty Lake, Devikulam

Mattupetty Lake is a tranquil spot at a height of 1700 m in Devikulam on the charming Idukki Hills. It is cradled by the undulant plantation hills of Munnar. Densely forested mountain terrains and uniformed plantations form a post card-like view rejuvenating both the body and the mind of a viewer.

The location will truly take the breath of an onlooker away with its scenic beauty and pleasing atmosphere. Mattupetty Dam, built in 1940, provides for a perfect picnic spot. Mattupetty is best known for the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, and over 100 varieties of cows are reared here.

Mountain terrains and spice gardens form a background for this picturesque lake. One can boat around this lake to further explore it. Speed, motor and pedal boating are available for a traveller to hire. The hills reverberate with sounds of various twittering birds, making bird watching another prime attraction of this spot.
