Byndoor Beach, located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of Coastal Karnataka, is one of the prime attractions of the small village of Byndoor. Located at a distance of around 45 km from the Maravanthe Beach, Byndoor Beach is known for its stunning sunsets.
According to a common belief, the beach was named after Sage Bindu, who legend says, undertook penance on the small hill of Ottinane located nearby. A sense of peace and tranquillity emanates from the beach, and thus tourists flock to it in large numbers to enjoy its serenity. It is therefore popular for travellers looking for silence and relaxation.
Another major attraction is the popular Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Parvathi. The temple is believed to have been conceived by Hindu saint, Vedic scholar and supporter of the Adwaita philosophy, Adi Shankaracharya.
