Udaipur Solar Observatory, Udaipur /2023

Udaipur Solar Observatory was constructed by Dr. Arvind Bhatnagar in the year 1976. It is situated on a small island at Fateh Sagar Lake, and the design of the observatory is inspired from the Solar Observatory at Big Bear Lake in Southern California. The Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad runs it on behalf of the Department of Space, Government of India.

The observatory plugs the longitudinal gap between Australia and Spain. All modern and high-resolution apparatus are present in the observatory for measurements regarding solar chromospheres, spectral observations and magnetic fields. The equipments help in understanding solar flares, mass ejections and the evolution of solar active regions.
