Tangasseri Fort is located in the coastal region of Kollam at a distance of about 8 km from the city centre. It is also known as St. Thomas Fort and has a history dating back to the 16th century when the region was under the control of the Portuguese. Built out of red sandstone and lime mortar on the shores of the Arabian Sea, Tangasseri Fort is a must-visit destination for every history lover.

It is the place where you can learn about the history of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British ruler in the Kollam region. Today, the fort is lying in its ruins and is under the care of the Archaeological Survey of India. The region is surrounded by lush vegetation, which in turn, makes it look more photogenic.

By Air: The nearest airport to Tangasseri is located in Trivandrum at a distance of about 70 km. Once you have reached the airport, you can hire a direct cab or use public transport to reach Tangasseri. It will take you an approximate time of 2 h to reach your destination from the airport.

By Rail: Kollam is well connected to all other cities and towns by rail. Therefore, you can hire a direct train to Kollam and then from there, you can hire a cab to reach Tangasseri.

By Road: Tangasseri has a commendable road connectivity, and hence it is easily accessible by road. You can either take a direct bus or hire a direct cab to reach Tangasseri.
