Birla family is originally from Rajasthan, and many members of this family have made tremendous contribution to the country. In the post-Mughal era, there were no prominent Hindu temples in Delhi or Kolkata. So, it was Birla family who built beautiful Hindu temples and brought a uniqueness to structures.
Likewise, many Birla Temples were built in many city centres. These shrines are constructed with a blend of old architectural styles with a modern outlook. No doubt, today Birla Temples are one of the major landmarks in several cities across India.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple

Apart from it being one of the beautiful temples, the Lakshmi Narayan Temple was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi. It was built by Baldeo Das Birla and Jugal Kishore Birla. Hence, it is also known as Birla Temple. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi. There are also other temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Hanuman. Today, Lakshmi Narayan Temple is one of the major landmarks in Delhi.

The Birla Mandir is dedicated to Radha and Krishna in Kolkata. Though it was started in 1970, Birla Mandir was completed only in 1990. Birla Mandir is situated in Ashutosh Chaudhri Avenue in Kolkata.
