A new group of over 6,500 pilgrims started their journey to the Amarnath shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas on Tuesday, under tight security measures. On Monday, more than 23,000 devotees the 3,880-metre high cave shrine, bringing the total number of pilgrims to over 51,000. Over 2,000 on-the-spot registrations were completed on Monday alone.
The fifth batch of 6,537 pilgrims left in 261 vehicles for the twin basecamps of Baltal and Palagam at 3.05 am and were accompanied by security vehicles.

The traditional Pahalgam route was chosen by 4,431 pilgrims, while the shorter but steeper Baltal route was taken by 2,106 pilgrims. Since June 28 when Lt Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch, a total of 26,101 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for the valley. The 52-day yatra officially began on June 29 and will conclude on August 19.

Over 51,000 Pilgrims Visit Amarnath Cave in Just Three Days
On Monday alone, over 23,000 pilgrims paid their respects at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas. This brought the total number of visitors to over 51,000 in just three days. Among those who visited the cave shrine were 16,459 male pilgrims, 5,092 female pilgrims, 232 sadhus and two sadhvis. Additionally, over 1,402 security forces personnel, 242 children and four transgender individuals also participated in the pilgrimage.

In conclusion, the Amarnath pilgrimage has seen a significant turnout this year with more than 51,000 devotees visiting within just three days. The pilgrimage will continue until August 19th under strict security measures to ensure the safety of all participants.
