Rajasthan has many treasures that every traveller would love to explore, among them is the third largest city in the state, Kota. Beautifully located on the banks of river Chambal, the city of Kota is popular for tourism as it has many monuments that dot the vicinity. The place is also popular for the lovely gardens and palaces. Despite being a desert city, Kota is among the few places in India that boast of uninterrupted water supply.

Jagmandir Palace
Among the most famous places to see in Rajasthan is the Jagmandir Palace in Kota. It is beyond a visual spectacle. Situated in the middle of the blue waters of Kishore Sagar, the palace is located on a small island. Built with red sandstone, the palace sharply contrasts with the blue waters surrounding it and makes for a breathtaking sight at day. At night, the palace comes alive with lights.

Kishore Sagar
The man-made Kishore Sagar lake is a must-visit place in Kota. It not only has the Jag Mandir in a small island at the center of the lake but also provides various other amusements to travellers. This artificial lake is one of the most picturesque places in Kota and attracts residents and tourists alike. Activities such as boating on the lake make for an interesting visit.

Garadia Mahadev Temple
The beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is another place to visit in Kota. The location of the temple along the Chambal river will take your breath away. The gushing and sparkling river bounded by lush greenery makes the temple a true spiritual destination. Amidst such bounty of nature, you are sure to find peace.

Kota Fort
A key tourist attraction in Kota is the Kota Fort and City Palace. Though it is not as magnificent as the other palaces and forts of Rajasthan, the place does have some features worth observing. The upper storey of the building has some interesting carvings and provides stunning views. The palace showcase grand bastions and ramparts that are decorated with delicate domes.

How to Reach Kota

By Road: Kota is well-connected by network of roadways and has both private deluxe and government buses from cities such as Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, etc.

By Rail: Kota is connected to many destinations in the region by railway as it falls on the main Mumbai-Delhi rail route.

By Air: The nearest airport to Kota is Jaipur (248 km).
