One of the lesser known tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh includes the quiet town of Bhagsu. Nestled in a corner between McLeodGanj and Dharamshala this town is mostly forgotten by tourists.
Although Bhagsu does not boast of many attractions, what draws tourists here is the calmness and simplicity of the place. It has a beautiful waterfall under which tourists can take a cool dip and visit a nearby temple as well.
Bhagsu is the place you should head to if you are looking for a break from your mundane lives and if relaxing and rejuvenating is of utmost priority on your holiday list. Lose yourself amidst the beauty of nature at Bhagsu.
Bhagsu Falls
One of the tourist places in Bhagsu is the Bhagsu Falls, which is very close to the Bhagsunag temple. You can reach the waterfall by hiring a taxi or auto but if you are in the mood for some adventure, there is a trekking trail to this place. The fall is at its best during the monsoons and creates a picturesque view of the surrounding region. Tourists coming here usually take a dip in the cold water that gets collected at the bottom of the falls. It is also an ideal picnic spot.

Bhagsunag Temple
A must-visit place in Bhagsu is the Bhagsunag Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an elevation of 1,770 mt above sea level and is considered sacred by the Hindus and the Gorkhas living here. There are pools within this temple and according to local beliefs the water in these pools have healing powers. Tourists visit the temple to capture the scenic views of the region from here and also to pay their respects to the gods.

Indrahar Pass
Another tourist place in Bhagsu is the Indrahar Pass, which is a trekking trail and attracts many adventure addicts. The pass is located in the Dhauladhar Mountain Range and is best trekked between the months of April to October.

Minkiani Pass
Another lesser known trekking route here is the Minkiani Pass. Tourists can enjoy the magnificent view of the far-off peaks from here. Not many trekkers take this route as it lacks challenges and is only a straight route. It is mostly trekked by tourists and photographers to take in the view of this region.
How to Reach Bhagsu
By Air: The Gaggal Airport located in Dharamshala, serves as the nearest domestic air base to Bhagsu and is located 5.5 km away. It is well-linked with important cities in India, such as New Delhi and Kullu.
By Train: Pathankot Railway Station is the nearest rail link to Bhagsu and is located at a distance of 92 km from Bhagsu. Trains for Pathankot are frequently available from the Indian capital city, New Delhi.
By Road: Both government and private buses for Bhagsu are available from nearby cities. Tourists can also avail buses to McLeodGanj from where Bhagsu is easily accessible. They can also opt for buses to Lower Dharamshala, which is not too far from the destination.
