Destinations For The Laid Back Souls In India

Sometimes you feel like packing your bags and setting off to a destination, where you relax and do nothing. Read on further to find out some of such places in the country.

By Pranav

There are times when you feel like packing your bags and taking off to some place and doing nothing at all. You feel like taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced life of the city and relaxing at a place where you don't have to worry about the time or work or for that matter anything. You always tend to crave for a change in location, but that certainly doesn't mean that you are looking forward to going around the place.

All you want to do is sip a cup of coffee or your favourite beverage and watch the sun setting and doze away in the comfortable bed with the room service being just a call away who would serve you your requirements on your bed.

There is a deep joy in doing nothing but relaxing and only the laid back souls can really understand it.

To all the laid back souls out there, get your bags packing and head to these places which are definitely made for you.

 Khajjiar

Khajjiar

The town is known as India's mini Switzerland. The town has a charm of its own. Just about an hour away from the popular destination of Dalhousie, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism has set up cottages and guest houses here with fairly extensive grounds.

Enjoy the Khajjiar lake and gaze at the deodar forests and be awestruck by the Dauladhar mountains. An extremely peaceful place, where one can pass off one's laziness as a quest for peace. You can have the guest house all to yourself during the day as most people tend to step out for trekking. To sum it up, it is a beautiful place to put a stop to everything you are worrying about.

Old Manali

Old Manali

The people who live in the mountains don't have all the luxury of being lazy. For them life is more rewarding but at the same time extremely hard, but in the case of the city dwellers who head to the mountains for vacations it is entirely the opposite.

Himachal Pradesh is one of the most preferred destinations for the urban professionals. Head to Old Manali to experience the feeling of complete separation from everything that has to be done. Life here is slow paced with the town waking up late and going to bed early; live in an apple orchard for a few days and take time out.

 Alleppey

Alleppey

The backwaters of Alleppey in Kerala, bring back everyone here repeatedly. When in Alleppey, a ride in the houseboat is a must. When you book a houseboat, you get the staff aboard who will cook your food, clear everything up, take care of the houseboat, stop over at the shore and get something from the toddy shop if you require anything.

All the while as you float lazily along the backwaters, the landscape will obligingly change for you, instead of you shifting your position. The most energetic requirement for you is to wave back to the kids who wave to the tourists on the houseboats.

Varkala

Another place that you can visit is Varkala in Kerala. The cliffs, greenery and the sea together combine to make the awesome landscape a unique one and you can never have enough of it.

As you sit enjoying the landscape with something to drink along, it sounds like a wonderful lazy holiday. To add in there are plenty of Ayurvedic centres in Varkala that would rejuvenate your body or soothe it with a gentle massage.

But wait, you are looking for a laid back time, so there is no point in doing it. Try out the cheese here which is the local specialty along with the yummy momos.
