Ganesh Chaturthi Festival Trains: Western Railway has Announced Special Services to Manage the Extra Crowd

Western Railway (WR) has announced several special trains to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. These trains will connect Mumbai with important destinations in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat. The special services will run between September 11 and September 25 and will operate on special fares.

The railway zone will run a total of 42 special trips through eight train services. The trains will originate from stations such as Mumbai Central, Bandra Terminus, Valsad, Udhna, Vadodara and Vishwamitri. Major destinations include Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road and Thokur.

The services announced by Western Railways are:

• Mumbai Central-Thokur Weekly Special: 2 trips

• Mumbai Central-Sawantwadi Road Special: 16 trips, four days a week

• Bandra Terminus-Ratnagiri Weekly Unreserved Special: 4 trips

• Valsad-Ratnagiri Weekly Special: 2 trips

• Udhna-Ratnagiri Weekly Special: 4 trips

• Vadodara-Ratnagiri Weekly Special: 2 trips

• Vishwamitri-Ratnagiri Bi-weekly Special: 8 trips

• Vishwamitri-Ratnagiri Weekly Special: 4 trips

Ganesh Chaturthi Festival Train Stoppages & Features

Several of these trains will serve important stations along the Konkan route. These include Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Rajapur Road, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road.
Some services extending to Thokur in Karnataka will also stop at major stations such as Madgaon, Karwar, Gokarna Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki and Surathkal.

The trains will have different types of coaches, including AC 3-tier, Sleeper and General Second Class. Selected services will also have First AC, AC 2-tier and AC 3-tier Economy coaches. The Bandra Terminus-Ratnagiri special will consist entirely of unreserved General Second Class coaches.

Bookings for Train Nos. 09013, 09019, 09030, 09022, 09114, 09110 and 09124 will begin on August 9, 2026, through railway reservation counters and the IRCTC website.
