Sasihithlu is a beautiful beach that is located in Sasihithlu village, which is 22 km away from Mangalore. The beach has silky white sand adorning it. The blue sea and white sand make for a picturesque sight. It is in close proximity to NIT Surathkal.

Sasihithlu beach is 6 km from NITK on NH 66. Munda island is surrounded by Shambavi and Nandini rivers on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other, making Sasihithlu a lovely location.

This place is not crowded, except for a few occasions. You can only see some fishermen doing their work. It is noise free and offers the most soothing experience from the sound of waves. It is recommended to arrange your own transport and not rely on public transport, as this beach is 4 km from the highway. Sasihithlu beach is proud of hosting many surfing events and competitions. Recently, the Karnataka Surfing Festival was held at Sasihithlu beach.

By Air: Mangalore Airport is the closest airport to Sasihithlu. You can book a taxi from there to reach Sasihithlu beach, which is around 23 km away. It is recommended to make stay arrangements at Mangalore itself, as Sasihithlu does not have great boarding options.

By Train: Surathkal is the closest railhead to Sasihithlu. Mangalore Railway Station has better connectivity and is 26 km away.

By Road: Sasihithlu beach is about 23 km from Mangalore. You have to make sure to book your mode of transport to reach this beach by road.

Winters from November to February is the best time to visit Sasihithlu beach. Summers are scorching and humid. The monsoons are the next best time to visit the beach. If you are adventurous and like enjoying some rain on the beach, do visit this beach during the months from June to August.

Being taken care of by the local Panchayat, Sasihithlu could use some funding from the Government to develop the infrastructure. Sasihithlu beach is one of the finest beaches in Mangalore. It is mostly secluded with the fishermen going about their duty.

Dotted with coconut trees along the way, Sasihithlu beach offers a peaceful environment to relax and recuperate. The water is shallow, and not too deep. Therefore, it is perfect to take children for some splashing and swimming without much concern. The waves are gentle, extending a great surfing platform.

A rivulet flowing into the beach, beautiful coconut tree lined coastline, pristine blue waters, white sand, and lack of crowds make this beach an out-of-this-world experience.

The Surfing Festival On Sasihithlu Beach

This three-day surfing event held at Sasihithlu brings the beach to life with live music performances, food stalls, kite-surfing tournaments, paddle-up race, etc. This event features many surfing athletes from Russia, France, Sri Lanka, Australia and other countries. Almost close to 150 surfers participate in this event, with 5 categories.

NITK Lighthouse

Located along the Surathkal beach, this lighthouse was constructed in 1972 and remains a major landmark of Surathkal. Climb up the lighthouse to enjoy beautiful views and close to 20 km of the coast. This lighthouse has advanced technology that can detect an impending tsunami.

This is one of the 8 mutts that was founded by Saint Madhavacharya, of the Dvaita philosophy. It is at a distance of 10 km from Sasihithlu. It is a well-known pilgrimage spot and an idol of Kalinga Mardhana Krishna is worshipped at this mutt.

This beach, located in Udupi, is at a distance of 16 km from Sasihithlu beach. It is a clean and calm beach. This beach also offers free wifi for its visitors! It has quite a few great accommodation options as well. Padubidri beach has a variety of water-sport activities like water scooter, banana boat, speed boat, etc.

Mostly used as a private beach by students of NITK, this beach is not really crowded. There is a temple on the way to the beach. Visitors usually don't miss the temple and the lighthouse. This beach has good sunset views and offers great photo opportunities.
