Southern Railway has announced special weekly superfast train services between Tirunelveli and Tambaram to handle the extra passenger traffic. The additional trains are being introduced to provide more travel options for people travelling across Tamil Nadu and reduce crowding on regular services.
Tirunelveli-Tambaram Weekly Special Train
According to Southern Railway, Train No. 06070 Tirunelveli-Tambaram Weekly Superfast Special will run on August 13, 20 and 27 (Thursdays). The train will depart from Tirunelveli at 11.35 pm and reach Tambaram at 10.15 am the following day.
For the return journey, Train No. 06069 Tambaram-Tirunelveli Weekly Superfast Special will operate on August 14, 21 and 28 (Fridays). It will leave Tambaram at 1.55 pm and arrive at Tirunelveli at 1 pm the next day.
Tirunelveli-Tambaram Weekly Special Train Features & Stoppages
The special trains will have a total of 22 coaches to accommodate more passengers. These include one AC 2-tier coach, six AC 3-tier coaches, two AC 3-tier economy coaches, seven sleeper class coaches, four general second-class coaches, one second-class coach reserved for differently-abled passengers, and one luggage-cum-brake van.
During the journey, the trains will halt at several important stations, including Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Kodai Road, Dindigul, Tiruchi, Srirangam, Ariyalur, Vriddhachalam, Villupuram, Melmaruvathur and Chengalpet, making the service convenient for passengers travelling to and from these locations.
