On a remarkable Sunday, the newly opened Jagannath Temple in Digha welcomed over 50,000 visitors in just one day. This is the highest number of visitors recorded in a single day since the temple was opened. The huge crowd has helped boost the local tourism and economy in the region.

A New Spiritual and Tourist Attraction
The temple officially opened its doors to the public on April 30. In just five days, it has attracted more than 10 lakh devotees. People are visiting not only for religious reasons but also to explore Digha, which is already famous as a beach destination.
Many tourists came over the weekend, which caused a big rush at the temple. People gathered near the sanctum sanctorum to see Lord Jagannath. To manage the crowd, police and temple authorities worked together. Loudspeakers were used to guide visitors and avoid heavy crowding, helping everyone move smoothly.
Temple Timings and Entry Details
The Jagannath Temple in Digha follows a similar schedule to the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri. The temple opens in the morning at 6 AM and closes at 1 PM. It opens again at 3 PM and closes at 9 PM in the evening. Devotees can enter the temple through Gates 6 and 7.
Just like in Puri, special sweets are offered here. While Puri is known for 'khaja', Digha's temple offers delicious 'sandesh' and 'gaja', which many devotees are enjoying.
Boost to Local Tourism and Hotels
The large number of visitors has also helped local hotels and nearby tourist places. Hotels in Digha, Mandarmani, Tajpur, and Shankarpur are fully booked. This is a big success for the local hospitality sector and shows that the temple is becoming a strong reason for tourism growth in the area.
An official said, "While it's hard to give an exact number, the crowd throughout the day suggests a record-breaking turnout."
Devotees Share Their Joyful Experiences
Many visitors shared their happiness. Sanjeev Kumar from Bihar said, "I rushed to Digha to see Lord Jagannath and was mesmerised by the darshan. I last came here six years ago, but this time I brought my whole family."
